[Matt Chan]

[Matt Chan] is a frontend engineer based in London. Specialising in product design and UX/UI since 2020.

[What I do]

Frontend engineering

Building interfaces that hold up under real use, not just in the mockup. I work close to design and close to data, and I care about both.

Component & UI build

Turning designs into interfaces that are fast, accessible, and easy to extend. I favor systems over one-offs.

Design & branding

Visual identity, UI design, and the flows in between. I take a project from a loose idea through wireframes to a finished look and feel, not just the build.

Design collaboration

I move fluidly between code and design tools, close enough to a project's visual direction to catch when something's off before it ships.

[How I work]

I don't wait for a finished brief before I start thinking. Most real work arrives as a direction, not a spec, and I build the clarity in as I go.

I stay close to the work past the edges of what's strictly mine, carrying projects from a loose idea through to every word on the page. Polish isn't a separate phase, it's protected the whole way through.

I share early: a considered draft in front of the right people, sooner, beats a perfect one arriving late.
